Reaching out to our Community As part of our mission, we are committed to providing the services our community needs. That’s not just for when they come to the hospital, it’s a year round commitment that makes us a part of their everyday lives. Here are just a few of the ways we like to give back to our community: - Annual United Way campaign, giving employees the opportunity to make contributions and support affiliated programs.
- Time off with pay to serve their civic obligation through Jury Duty
- Diabetic Support Group
- Women’s Health and Prenatal Classes
- “Love Your Heart” cardiac exercise classes offered free to the community
- Senior Friends club and activities
- Participation in the “BeANurse@HCA” career program designed to educate and encourage young people to pursue a career in healthcare

ARH Participates in the National 100,000 Lives Campaign The national 100,000 lives campaign is a voluntary initiative spearheaded by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI). Unveiled on December 14, 2004, the campaign seeks to save 100,000 lives by implementing proven health care improvement techniques to reduce preventable inpatient deaths. VHHA has committed to assist in this effort. As a population-based proportion, Virginia's share of this goal would be approximately 2,500 lives saved. IHI aimes to enlist 2,000 hospital across the country to reach this goal by June 14, 2006. Alleghany Regional is happy to report that we are a participant in this program. |
